J. The Jewish News of Northern California is looking for a full-time office manager for our 19-person nonprofit media organization. J. The Jewish News of Northern California is the award-winning nonprofit newspaper serving the Bay Area’s diverse Jewish community since 1895. With a bi-weekly print publication and a robust daily digital product, J. the Jewish News of Northern California reaches more than 1 million readers each year online and is mailed to nearly 15,000 homes throughout Northern California.
The successful candidate will work closely with the publisher and development director and must be excited to work in a news media office.
We are located in the Financial District of San Francisco, close to BART and Muni; the position is in-person, although most of our staff is still working remotely. Salary is $45,000 plus benefits.
Responsibilities include:
● Oversee and support all administrative duties in the office and ensure that office is operating smoothly
● Receive and handle subscriptions and renewals and update database account information for readers and donors
● Develop office policies and procedures, and ensure they are implemented appropriately
● Perform receptionist duties: answer and direct phone calls and greet visitors
● Receive and sort incoming mail, and deliveries, and manage outgoing mail
● Manage office supplies inventory and place orders as necessary
● Assist with office layout planning and office moves, and with managing and maintaining IT infrastructure
● Provide other administrative support as necessary, to the board and staff, including creating reports, handling invoices and scheduling group meetings
Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree
● 2-5 years of work experience in an administrative/office management role
● Must have strong problem-solving skills, exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize.
● Must be a self-starter and driven with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and Google products. Knowledge of databases a plus
